I am Saurabh Sharma, a self-taught freelance journalist based out of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Welcome to my space in the digital grid.
I work with Reuters on a contractual basis over a myriad of topics ranging from crime, politics to human rights violations.
Other than doing stories, I also work on enabling freelancers and helped create and maintain a network of over 3k reporters from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. At 101, I anchored the Pakistan election coverage and Easter bombings in Sri Lanka for Firstpost.
One of the many international publications I have majorly worked with. I reported on hard news covering a variety of topics from politics to crime.
I was part of the Reuters team that won this award for our coverage of the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak in India
As part of a five member team of reporters including Joe Brock, John Geddie, Valerie Volcovic, Yuddh Chaya Budhiman and yours truly.
I received the prize for a profile I had done on the life of an adolescent girl living on the streets in India.
I’m presently working for Reuters and 101 Reporters (where I am also one of the founding members) and have worked for various international organisations as well including Al Jazeera and The Times (UK). I often travel for my work and report on human rights, gender, crime and politics. I have covered some of the most important and controversial events in India, such as the anti-CAA protests and violence, encounter killings across Uttar Pradesh, the grand Kumbh festival, and the state assembly and general elections.
